Short Bio: Derk R. Mattocks, Senior Partner, Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Principal Coach at Turning Point Coaching, LLC is a licensed certified advanced professional business coach (LCAPBC) and manages’ day-to-day-operations.
Derk joined Turning Point Coaching following his retirement, after 25 years, from the U. S. Army Community and Family Support Center (USACFSC), Department of Defense (DoD) Agency. Prior to his retirement, Derk served 16 of those years as senior instructor and advisor at USACFSC, headquarters to the Business Management & Programs Academy in Fall Church VA. He traveled throughout the United States, coaching, advising and training senior leaders, managers and supervisors charged with operating business and programs activities on military installations.
Derk’s previous assignment, with USACFSC, led him to its European Regional Office (ERO), Frankfurt, Germany, as Team Chief, Technical Assistant and Management Analysis (TAMA), where, for 9 years, he was charged with leading teams, and advising military installations staff on strategic and business planning, financial management & analysis, contract management, marketing and human capital management for business and program operations throughout Europe, the Pacific Rim, Middle East and Africa, supporting our uniform personnel, who served anywhere and everywhere, ensuring that they receive the same quality of service they are so willing to defend.
Before joining the agency, Derk led major international hotel (Ramada, Inns, Inc; Holiday Inns, Inc & Sheraton Hotels, Inc) operations as General Manager for 14-years.
Derk’ education background includes two advanced degrees (Master of Business Administration & Master of Science in Management-military Installation Management) from the Graduate School of Management & Technology, University of Maryland University College, College Park, MD; A BSc.-Organizational Management, from Nyack College, Nyack, New York; And, he is a graduate of the United States’ Army Sustaining Military Base Leadership Management (SBLM) from the U. S. Army Management Staff College (AMSC), Fort Belvoir, VA.
